Jimmy Warne – Washington West
I wish to make the following statement to the residents of Washington West with regard to the amended planning application being approved
It has taken me many days to consider my response to the planning committee decision. I am disgusted with this decision and I am also livid with the sitting councillors responsible for it. It is the view of residents that they have been let down and I cannot disagree. It is my intention to make my views and the views of residents known to both the Leader and the Cabinet Secretary of Sunderland City Council.
It is beyond belief that the Planning Inspector was of the view that 60 houses were acceptable and despite this the Planning Committee agreed to 75.
If anyone is in doubt as to why I am standing to be your councillor, I hope that this statement expresses my strong feelings on the matter and shows why you should vote for me. I will act in the best interests of those I seek to represent, not ignore the views of the electorate. Those who know me best will attest to my complete belief in accountability.
Whether you live in Albany, Blackfell, Donwell, High Usworth or Springwell Village I will always listen to you and represent your views faithfully.
If you live in Albany, Blackfell, Donwell, High Usworth or Springwell Village vote Jimmy Warne and the Labour Party on Thursday 6th of May 🗳
Washington West has been my home for 45 years and along with my family I still live in Springwell Village. My wife is a podiatrist working locally so I look after our two daughters. My working life has taken me from the ship yards as an electrician for Swan Hunter to being a trade union education officer for the AEEU which later became Unite the Union. Over a number of years I have used my trade union experience to represent members of the public at employment tribunals, medical appeal hearings and in work capability assesments as a “
I believe that accountability to you, the residents of Washington West, is everything. To make myself accountable I will hold an additional surgery once a month, in Springwell Village Social Club, to give residents more opportunity to raise issues that concern them with me face to face. This will complement the current surgery held once a month in Albany every second saturday. As well as these surgeries I can always be contacted via email or telephone with urgent matters. It is my view that I should be available to residents and that they should be able to question me and so hold me to account.
As your councillor, I intend to apply these same principles of accountability to the leadership of our council and represent the views of residents to them. I am pleased that the leader, Cllr Graeme Miller, has already visited our ward, at my request, to discuss various issues which shows that he is willing to listen and deliver for the residents of Washington West.
